Score! Today we got a Dipsy doll (the green Teletubby) and a play slide (Little Tykes Easy Store Jr., retails for $35!) for Ulysses at Savers. We also got a nice area rug for the carpeted area by the couch where he eats (and hence makes a mess).

Rug: $5. Slide: $4. Dipsy: $3. While Don was at the checkout and U and I were elsewhere in the store putting back a big stuffed Spongebob Squarepants and U didn't seem interested in (far less than Don and I were), I suddenly remembered! -- and then scooped up U and went racing to the checkout with him!--

The November Savers coupon! Buy any item $5 and over, and get FREE any item under $5! So the slide was free! All that stuff, just 8 buckaroos.

As I type this, U is sliding his Teletubbies down the slide, and occasionally climbing up and sliding down himself. La-La, Po, and Dipsy. As Don said, all we need now is a Stinky Winky to complete the set.

More on the slide
About a year ago, we saw a similar slide at Savers for a similar price. I thought we should get it; that Ulysses could use it come summer, when he was 1+ some months. Don thought he wouldn't be ready, that it would be dangerous. Just a few months later, U was going down real playground slides, climbing up the stairs and all. It goes so fast!

So I've been looking for another fabulous deal on a slide ever since. Only once in all that time have I seen another slide for sale, that one was too big and expensive. Oh, wait, there was one other, but it was really rickety and yucky. So, one year later, finally, the item I've been holding out for!

More on Dipsy
Talk about Goodwill magic. (Although Goodwill has gotten so crummy over the past few years, and we never actually go to Goodwill anymore.) This morning we were talking about how we needed Tinky-Winky and Dipsy on the same scale as the Laa-Laa and Po we already have. (Laa-Laa is from Savers; Po is from the Madison Birth Center fundraiser garage sale.)

"I saw a toy grab bag at Savers the other day," said Don. "It had in it a Laa-Laa and two Pos." Who needs two Pos?

Turned out that this morning, while U and I were finding the slide, Don was finding Dipsy!

Here is a Web page from Germany with lots more information about Dipsy, and the Teletubbies in general. It's where I got the image above. Excellent information!
