Hot, hot, hot! This Wisconsin summer has finally begun in earnest. Yesterday evening, Ulysses was desperate for a drink of water, but unfortunately we couldn't figure that out before first offering hot dogs, crackers, the breast, Children's Tylenol (in case it was teethin pain), all the games we could think of, a Teletubbies episodes, play session with the ferrets, etc. Finally I thought to offer a soda bottle of water. When he gulped down half of it, and then instantly quit screaming, we knew it was the right choice! It was a hot and sunny day and we spent most of it outside together in the yard, the wading pool, and a couple of neighborhood park playgrounds. He needed to drink more water than usual after all that. Oh.

Then last night, he fought his way out of bed. Wha? I'd never seen that before. I finally gave up wrestling him back in and instead watched to see what he would do. He teetered to the bathroom and stopped in front of the sink. He looked up at it and pointed. I filled a cup with water. He drank down half of it. Then he sighed a happy sigh. Hahhhh!
